Can You Have Sleep Apnea without Snoring?

We understand that many patients experience anxiety when it comes to having their wisdom teeth removed. Our team is committed to providing a stress-free and comfortable experience for every patient. With modern technology and years of experience, we offer safe and effective wisdom teeth removal procedures to help maintain your oral health.
Wisdom teeth are the third and final set of molars that typically emerge in the late teenage years or early adulthood. While some people have sufficient space in their mouths to accommodate these teeth, others may experience complications that require extraction.
Removing a wisdom teeth can prevent potentially significant problems, including damage to nearby teeth, gums, jaw, and bone.
When there isn’t enough space in your mouth for your wisdom teeth, the molars may only partially break through the gums or emerge at odd angles. This tight spacing makes flossing and brushing challenging, increasing the risk of cavities and gum disease.
Extraction can help prevent future oral health problems and alleviate current discomfort.
The wisdom teeth removal process typically involves local anesthesia or sedation, depending on the patient’s needs and preferences. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) typically works rapidly and, following your procedure, the effects subside within a few minutes. Local anesthesia can take a few minutes before the area feels numb and take a few hours to wear off.
During your procedure, our dental team will carefully extract the teeth and provide instructions for post-operative care to encourage a speedy and comfortable recovery.
After local anesthesia has taken effect, your dentist will use a scalpel to carefully remove (resect) gum tissue surrounding the wisdom tooth.
If the tooth is impacted or hasn’t fully emerged from the gum, it may be partially or completely covered by bone. In these situations, a high-speed tool will be utilized to delicately drill through and extract the tooth from the bone.
Once the wisdom tooth is completely exposed, your dentist will carefully loosen the tooth from the connective tissue in the tooth’s socket (below the gumline). When necessary, your dentist may cut the tooth into sections to make removal easier.
Once loosened, the tooth or sections of the tooth are carefully extracted.
Dissolvable stitches are used to close wounds and protect soft tissue during the healing process. Once the procedure is finished, we’ll stop administering nitrous oxide gas and gradually bring you out of sedation.
Your dentist will provide gause to cushion the area and control any bleeding. Then, you will be monitored until you are cleared to go home, usually within an hour.
After the procedure, it is important to follow our recommended aftercare instructions to promote proper healing. This may include pain management, avoiding certain foods and activities, and practicing good oral hygiene. Our team will provide personalized care instructions to help you recover quickly and comfortably.
